Sugarlips Portrays The Queen of Soul

R&B fans and followers of the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, were thrilled with “Natural Woman: An Aretha Story”

The smash hit musical tribute stars L’Tanya "Sugarlips" Shields Turner and Shappell Edwards as “The Queen of Soul” and “Young Ree” respectively, and offers a glimpse into Franklin’s life as a single teenage mother; a working woman balancing home and career, coping with two challenging marriages; and, later, romantic relationships that were the source of both tremendous joy and unforeseen heartache.

The dramatic production also paints a vivid picture of a Detroit long gone –  the storefront churches, the basement parties, the explosive R&B shows.
